Hinamatsuri Party the Doll's Festival at AIJI-NO-IE
Hunter was picked as one of the kids from Mendel Elementary to represent the school during this field trip. We were greeted by the children from the Orpahange and the adults. Then were had a guide that took us to the different stations, ours was a girl named Satomi. She didn't speak any English and that was a little hard for communication, but we made it work. Hunter's group got to participate in the tea ceremony, origami, souvenir picture wearing, fan throwing game, otedama, flower arrangement(ikibana) and calligraphy. Since the line for the pictures was long, we didn't have time to participate in everything. But they had a blast. Hunter had sushi, tamagoyaki, yakisoba, cake, and some Japanese sweets. I had the sukiyaki, banana, sushi and strawberries. The sukiyaki was pretty good. The picture is of the ladies making sukiyaki.
